Selçuk Bird Sanctuary

The Selçuk Gevekirse Lake Site for the preservation and reproduction of waterfowl is spread across a thousand hectares between Ephesus and Pamucak, North of the ancient city of Ephesus. 30 – 40 types of birds and mammal live in the marsh area, where the Cayster River pour into the sea from northern coasts of the Pamucak banks, made up of ponds and reeds. Amongst these are birds like mew gulls, pelicans, various duck species, woodcocks and red-legged partridges and land animals like boars, foxes and jackals. Selçuk Bird Sanctuary is a housing and sheltering place rather than a nestling place for birds.
