Gastrofarm Urla argues that gastronomy tourism is not only about culinary culture but also makes a significant contribution to the economic, social, and cultural development of the region. To support sustainable tourism in Urla and to preserve our cultural heritage, we aim to establish a Festivals Union. Under this union, we intend to promote our wild herb culture and local culinary flavors while celebrating the region’s traditional and cultural fabric.
Every year, with the Mart Dokuzu Traditional Herb Festival, we welcome spring and celebrate the awakening of nature with the fall of the cemres. This event is an important opportunity to showcase Urla’s cultural heritage, highlight wild herbs and local delicacies, and promote the region’s gastronomy.
Similarly, the Artichoke Festival, held annually at the end of April, emphasizes the value of our geographically indicated artichoke and introduces Urla with this unique flavor. Viticulture and wine culture are also central to Urla’s identity. Each year, on August 14th, the Harvest Festival celebrates the abundance of vineyards and keeps alive the winemaking tradition.
In line with this mission, Gastrofarm Urla continues its efforts to promote sustainable tourism and preserve traditional values in the region.
By bringing together soil-rooted celebrations such as the Herb Festival, the International Artichoke Festival, and the Harvest Festival, these events transform celebrations into education and tourism into transformation. Every detail—from who can open a stand to the sourcing of materials—is designed to preserve Urla’s cultural integrity and natural resources. Visitors come not only to consume, but to learn, to taste, to connect, and to give back. Farmers meet chefs, traditions meet innovation, and old melodies find new voices.
In Urla, sustainability is told through the herbs, the grapes, and the shared tables. Thanks to Gastrofarm Urla, this story now extends beyond the fields, inviting the world not just to visit—but to belong.
