Aydınoğlu Mehmet Bey Mausoleum

This mausoleum, which is adjacent to the northwest wall of Birgi Ulu Mosque in İzmir Ödemiş district, was built in 1333 for Aydınoğlu Mehmet Bey and his sons İsa Bey, İbrahim Bahadır Bey and Aydın Bey Gazi Umur Bey. The tomb has a square plan made of limestone and is covered with an octagonal drum dome. Star-shaped tiles in dark blue and turquoise color are placed at the corners of the tomb with three windows. Its interior is decorated with tiles. A medallion made of mosaic tiles is placed in the middle of the dome. Most of the tiles in the mosaic inlay technique used in the dome rim and in the dome were lost due to moisture.
