House of Virgin Mary
The Virgin Mary House, 9 kilometers from Selçuk, is located on Bülbül Mountain. It is believed that, 4 or 6 years after Jesus' death, St. John brought the Virgin Mary to Ephesus. This structure, which has a cruciform plan and an ombre, was later restored.
In the house, which is considered sacred by Muslims, after the visit of Pope Paul the 5th in 1967, rituals are held every year on the 15th day of August.
In 1891, the Lazarist priests, upon the dream of the German nun A. Katherina Emerich, revealed that the house where Virgin Mary spent her last days was this place. This event was a brand new discovery in the world of Christianity and shed light on the world of religion.
