Rum Mehmet Paşa Mosque and Mausoleum

This mosque, located in Izmir Tire district, was built by Rum Mehmet Pasha in h.876 (1472) according to the abbreviation of the inscription on the entrance door. Rubble stone and brick were used in the construction of the mosque, it has a square plan and a pendent of 7.30 m. It is covered with a diameter dome. It is the smallest building among Tire mosques. There is no striking feature in the place of worship, which is entered from the north direction. The last congregation place of the mosque is in the form of stone pillars on two corners and three sections consisting of two columns between them. Of these, the middle section is covered with narrower barrel vaults, and the ones on both sides with wider vaults. The place of worship is illuminated by two windows in two rows. The lower row of these are windows enclosed in a rectangular frame with deaf mirrors. The mihrab is stalactite and very high. Four of the door wings and window wings of the mosque are original. The single-balcony minaret, which is entered from the place of worship, is in a form that resembles rug patterns on a cut stone pedestal with colored bricks.There is a kulliye built by Rum Mehmet Pasha in Istanbul.
