Victor Whittall House (Arkas Naval Historic Centeri)

Victor Whittall's house was built in 1854-1856 just after the Crimean War. Ownership of the house passed to Douglas Patterson, Edwin Charnaud, De Zandonati and James Gout, and finally Victor Whittall bought the house in 1949. The original entrance door to the house was destroyed in 1973 due to the street widening works, but its enchanting garden can still be seen today. Until the 1980s, Mr. Victor Whittall's widow lived in this house with his children. Mrs. Whittall sold the house to Deniz Taner and later to Luicen Arkas. The surviving of the house today has been ensured by the restoration in accordance with the original. In 2012, Lucien Arkas opened the Pavilion as a Maritime History Museum in order to exhibit the Arkas family collection and this historical house.
