Aliotti family, one of the important families of Izmir, established the Izmir-based Oriental Carpet Company (Eastern Carpet Company), which is the world's largest carpet monopoly, by expanding the carpet business that they started with thousands of small producers in Western Anatolia, who came to Izmir for trade from Italy about 200 years ago. Thousands of members of the Aliotti family are scattered all over the world today, from Australia to North America. Leaving Florence, Italy, and settling in Chios, and coming to Izmir in 1820, Aliottis lived in Karşıyaka, Bornova and Buca for centuries. Family members contributed greatly to the trade of Izmir and later to the industrialization of the region. The construction of the building dates back to the early 1900s. Not so long ago, the famous businessperson of İzmir, Durmuş Yaşar, bought this place and donated it to the foundation he founded, and the building now serves as an education center.
