Heinrich van der Zee Mansion

It is located in Karşıyaka, Cemal Gürsel Street No: 324. The Dutchman Heinrich Van Der Zee, who was engaged in ship trade, had the mansion built. Although the exact date of construction is not known, it was probably built in the early 1900s. The mansion also served as the Dutch consulate in its time. In addition, a memorial building in memory of the family's children who were born here and died at a young age, is located in the Karşıyaka St. Helene Catholic Church. The pavilion was restored on time and now serves as a restaurant. There is a winged section adjacent to the main section in the north-south direction. Of these winged sections, there is an entrance to the north with stairs on the right and left. The entrance is supported by two wooden columns and covered with a hipped roofed porch. The building has a symmetrical façade arrangement. The windows in the basement are in the form of small squares, while the windows on the other floors are rectangular. The intermittent tooth motifs lined up under the eaves of the building surround the building all around. All corners of the building, which was built with stone material, were enlivened with smooth cut basalt stones. On the eastern front, there is a balcony covered with a pediment porch carried by wooden columns. There is a rose window in the middle of the pediment. There is a rosette motif in plaster relief in the middle of the wooden ceiling of the porch. The building bears the 19th century levantine architectural features.
