Karşıyaka Ancient Train Station

Karşıyaka train station, which is one of the important structures of the Basmane-Bandırma line, is one of the first railways of the Ottoman Empire, which is a 1st degree site and built at the end of the 1800s, has a special place both in the city memory and in the history of the railway. This station, which has witnessed 120 years, has hosted many firsts. For the first time in the history of railways, combined transportation took place in Karşıyaka. The implementation of combined tickets for suburban trains and horse-drawn trams started here on August 21, 1903. Again, the first different classes in suburban trains starts on Karşıyaka trains. In 1984, there were edna (ordinary), evsat (middle), ala (very good) written on the wagons. In the following years, Governor Hasan Fehmi Pasha removed these writings and wrote first, second and third class instead.
