Koloe Ancient City

It is understood that the human culture in Küçük Menderes Basin (ie also in the Keles / Kiraz region) started in the Early Neolithic Period in 6500 or 6000 BC. It is also claimed in the light of recent research that the small beyliks formed by the Pre-Turks formed the 'Assuwa Confederation'. In this basin, Limontepe Mound, Hacılar Höyük, Muğla cave paintings in the middle part of the triangle, now Kiraz, Beydağ and Ödemiş districts of İzmir are also located. The largest settlement of the people in the Kelbianon plain in the east of the Upper Küçük Menderes Basin was Koloe (Kiraz). There are hundreds of Kurgans (Personal Tombs) in Keles / Kiraz, Beydağ and Ödemiş regions where the Pre-Turks buried their dead. Etruscans of Turkish origin who immigrated to Italy (13th century BC) also buried their dead in Kurgans. In Antique Age, Keles / Kiraz region was under Hittite rule for 600 years, under Ionian rule 700 years, under Phrygia 500 years, under Lydian rule for 160 years, under Persian rule 212 years, under the rule of the Macedonian Kingdom for 77 years, under the rule of the Kingdom of Syria for 100 years, under the rule of the Kingdom of Pergamon 55 years, 215 years under the rule of the Roman Empire, 913 years under the Byzantine Empire, 5 years under the Genoese rule, 237 years under the Seljuk rule, 2 years under the rule of Sasa Bey, 116 years under the rule of Aydınoğlu Principality, 497 years under the rule of the Ottoman Empire and is under the rule of the Republic of Turkey for 86 years.
