The monument of Asist. Third Lieutenant Mustafa Fehmi Kubilan, who was martyred in the reactionary uprising in Menemen, which is mentioned in the history of the Republic as the Menemen Incident or the Kubilay Event, is located on a hill overlooking Menemen. Mustafa Fehmi Kubilay is the child of a Cretan family, and after completing his primary education in Antalya Numune School, he studied at the Izmir Teacher Training School and took the surname Kubilay in this school. When he was in his last year, he transferred to Bursa Teacher Training School and graduated as a primary school teacher in 1926. While he was serving as a reserve officer in Menemen, he was assigned to suppress the uprising with his team during the reactionary uprising in Menemen on December 23, 1930. Meanwhile, he was wounded and martyred by the rebels when he was wounded. After this incident, a bust of Bursa Teacher School was placed, and a monument was built in Menemen in the name of guard Hasan and guard Şevki, who were martyred together with Kubilay. The name of the Zafer Primary School in Menemen was changed to Kubilay Primary School. The monument is in the form of a pyramidal mass on a four-cornered main base on the hill overlooking the city, with three steps. On one side of this monument is a statue of a young man holding a spear on a marble pedestal where the Kubilay Incident is depicted. Sculptor Ratip Aşir Acudoğlu won the competition for the construction of this monument and the monument was opened in 1932.
