Yıldıztepe Martyrdom

Yıldıztepe Martyrs' Cemetery is on a high altitude hill in Urla's İskele District. This martyrdom occurred on the 11th day of September, 1922, when the corpses of Capt. Kemal Bey, the 1st Battery Commander, and his groom Corporal Baki, who had shipped ammunition and artillery batteries from Izmir to Urla, were transferred here one year after their martyrdom.
