Gediz River

The current bed of the Gediz River and its surroundings contain very important saline habitats. Especially lark birds are frequently observed in the area where the salty steppe and salty meadow plants such as Ilgın (Tamarix spp.), Kofa (Juncus spp), sea cowpea (Salicornia spp) are found. Bird species such as crested lark (cristata in the Gallery), perching lark (Melanocorypha calandra), lark (Alauda arvensis), as well as the great forest eagle (Clanga clanga) and the fish eagle (Pandion haliaetus), which are migratory to Winter for the delta, are also among the bird species that can be seen. Mammals such as jackal (Canis aureus), fox (Vulpes vulpes), wild boar (Sus scrofa) are other creatures that use the field. Although the otter (Lutra lutra) in the delta is on the mammal list, it has no record so far. However, this area is a suitable habitat for otters.
