Küçük Menderes Delta Observation Point

Küçük Menderes Delta is a delta formed in Kuşadası Bay, northwest of Selçuk district, where Küçük Menderes River flows into the sea. The delta, which has been mostly converted into an agricultural area, includes dunes, reeds, wide marshes (Eleman and Akgöl marshes), a freshwater lake (Çatal Lake) and a lightly salty lake (Gebekirse Lake). The delta is surrounded by maquis, agricultural fields, willow and olive groves. The edges of the lakes are covered with reeds (Phragmites spp.). In most of the swamps, Tamarix is the dominant species. Observation Point watches the area where the Küçük Menderes River flows into the sea. The reeds, marshes and salt vegetation formed in this area can be seen from the Observation Point. In addition to species such as the songbird (Emberiza calandra), yellow wagtail (Motacilla flava) and tailpecker (Oenanthe oenanthe), flamingo (Phoenicoptuerus roseus), redbear (Tringa totanus), blackbird (Calidris alpina) ) and bird species such as the Great Forest Eagle (Clanga clanga) are can be observed.
