Bozdağ Wild Life Road

Bozdağ Wild Life Road is an ideal area for nature walks and camping. However, since the area is actively used for wild animals, care and attention should be paid to these activities. The area is located within the Boz Mountains Key Biodiversity Area (KBA). KBA hosts maquis areas dominated by kermes oak (Quercus coccifera), red pine forests, and higher oak and larch forests, similar to other mountains in the region. High alpine meadows stretch above the tree line. The area is important for raptors and forest birds. Bird species breeding in the KBA include the red hawk (Buteo rufinus) and the snake eagle (Circaetus gallicus). The roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), which is distributed in very few places in the Mediterranean and Aegean Regions, is an important mammal species here. Wolf (Canis lupus), coyote (Canis aureus) and fox (Vulpes vulpes) are predatory mammal species found in the area. The small rodent species called the small digger mouse (Microtus subterraneus) has a fragmented population unique to the KBA.
