Glass Processing Art in Flame - İ. Dinçol

The process of melting glasses in glass processing / heating in flame is provided with a tool called torch. As a material; Two types of glass, called borosilicate and effetre, are used, which are easy to operate and suitable for this technique. Support is taken in shaping by using graphite tips made of steel and coal dust resistant to about a thousand degrees as hand tools.

The history

All beads made within the scope of this art are created by melting special glass at 1200 degrees flame. High temperatures are required for glass melting and LPG tubes and oxygen concentrators or oxygen tubes used in homes are used to achieve this temperature. In addition, tools called torch are used in the process of melting glasses that gather all this heat and oxygen source together. The glasses used are glass rods of certain diameters with each color individually produced. When glasses are melted, they become pasty and their fluidity increases rapidly during their stay in the flame. When it reaches this stage in the flame, the glasses are wrapped on steel rods called mandrels using the wrapping technique and beads are made in desired sizes. The construction time of the beads varies depending on the size and the techniques applied.
