Cumhuriyet Education Museum-Provincial Education History and Technology Museum (Former Duatepe Primary School)

The building, which is a 19th century structure, was used as a correctional center for Armenian children in Izmir. The building, which continued to serve as the Duatepe Primary School with the Republic, lost this function after 1969. This is the first school in Izmir that used Latin letters. When the school moved to its new building, this building was used as an archive and warehouse for a long time. The building was registered as a cultural asset to be protected by the Cultural Heritage Preservation Board in 2003. The National Education Ministry had the project to establish the 'Turkish Education History and Technology Museum Establishment Project' in every city of the country. The museum was established as education museum for that purpose. The building was closed temporarily in October 2010 due to the risk of collapse of the building, with the approval of the governorship. After the restoration that started in 2015, it was reopened on March 14, 2017. In the museum, there are documents from before and after the Republic, Ottoman certificates, student report cards collected from schools in Izmir. There is a research and education library as well as exhibiting photographs showing their diplomas and course activities.
