Mısırlızade Hajji Mustafa Effendi Fountain
When you look at the triangular pediment of the staircase that enables you to reach Katipzade Masjid, you will notice the Misirlzade Hacı Mustafa Efendi Fountain, made of marble.
The history
In the inscription of the fountain that has survived to the present day, it is written that it was built by Mısırlızade Hacı Mustafa Efendi in Hijri 1223 (1808 AD).
Unfortunately, the fountain, which has lost its original state and function, is not available today.
The niche in the upper part of the fountain is terminated with circular transition elements and a round arch. The trough part of the fountain, whose nozzle hole could not be seen, has not survived until today.
All the ornamental elements of the Mısırlızade Hacı Mustafa Efendi Fountain are gathered in the upper part of the niche ending with a round arch and on the arch corners. In the upper part of the niche, there are rectangular shaped inscriptions on both sides, ending in the shape of an eyebrow arch on both sides. The construction date of the fountain, which is determined with a thin strip, is added to the top of these writings. Pear-shaped inscription motifs on the corners of the belt, the upper part ending in the form of a Bursa belt draw attention. 'Mashallah' is written in these motifs.
