Selimiye Mosque

Selimiye Mosque was constructed in 1899 by patron Hajji Edhem Aga, for immigrants who has settled in Degirmendagi.

Built on inclined terrain, Selimiye Mosque is a single-minaret mosque with a jerkin head roof covered with tiles. It was constructed using intertwined stones and bricks. All façades of beautiful mosque can be seen from the streets.

You can access Selimiye Mosque's yard with four steps, and you go through its original iron double door located in a brick arched opening to get inside the mosque. Main entrance gate has an arch and stone frame moon motifs are carved onto the keystone on the arches of southern wall. Sanctuary ceiling is adorned at the centre with stars and floral patterns, while altar niche features gypsery floral decorations.
