Turkish State Railways 3rd Region Museum and Art Gallery

It is estimated that the building, was built before 1856 by British merchants living in Izmir as a warehouse. Since this date is the construction date of the Izmir-Aydın railway, it is thought that it must be older than the station building opposite the building. The building, which served as the administration of British companies after it was used as a warehouse, became the residence of the manager of the 'Izmir-Aydın Ottoman Railway Company' in the 1860s. In the years following the nationalization of the railways, it was used as lodging for many years with five buildings of different sizes, located right next to the building and having the same architectural characteristics. The two-storey building, organized as a Museum and Art Gallery, was opened in 1990, and with the last restoration carried out in 2002-2003, the upper floor was completely reorganized as a gallery and the lower floor as a museum. In the museum, which aims to emphasize the importance of railways, promote and popularize railways, different vehicles, machinery and equipment related to trains and railways, and silver dinner and tea sets with TCDD emblem used in wagon restaurants are among the remarkable pieces. In addition, guard clocks, road measuring devices, steam locomotive equipment and the harem wagon belonging to the Baghdad Railways are also included in the museum.
