Bornova Doğanlar Chapel Cultural Center

The building, which is today a cultural center, was used as a church in the past. Doğanlar Church is different from many monumental churches that continue the traditions of the Middle Ages, both in size and in material and technique. This church, which was surrounded by olive groves in the past, was built in the 19th century for Greek Orthodox community of Bornova district. After the church lost its function, it was used as a carpentry shop for a long time and was severely damaged. Doğanlar Church, which was strengthened within the framework of the restoration projects carried out by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality with the approval of the Izmir No.1 Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage, was put into use as an Culture and Art center in 2014. The center has a seating capacity of 50 to 60 people.
