Gündoğdu Square

Gündoğdu Square was built by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in 1999 after a sea filling project. It is located on Konak-Alsancak Atatürk Street. A statue was erected in the square in 2003. This sculpture, which stands out with its difference from classical monuments and is called the Republic Tree, is the work of sculptor Ferit Özşen. Many events, concerts, rallies and celebrations in the city are held in this square.
