Historical Coal Gas Factory

The historical Gas Factory, one of the symbolic structures of Izmir, was transformed into an outstanding cultural center of the city with the restoration made by the Metropolitan Municipality. Founded in 1862, the Gas Factory was effectively used to supply electricity in the 1900s. The venue, which was transferred to the municipal administration during the republican period, started to serve as a cultural center in 2008 after the restoration works. The Gas Factory currently includes a cafeteria, an administrative building, a reading hall, arts units, a sales building and an atelier building. The Historical Gas Factory has been hosting many events such as concerts, exhibitions and conferences since the day it was opened. The center can host 5000 people in concert order.
