French Cultural Center

French Cultural Center provides services for the promotion of the French cultural and intellectual world in Turkey. The buildings, which are still operating in Istanbul and Izmir and each built in the 19th century, have played an important role in Turkish-French relations. The first cultural center was opened in Istanbul in 1940, under the French Consulate General in Istanbul. Immediately after the signing of the cultural agreement between France and Turkey in 1952, French cultural centers in Ankara and then in Izmir were opened in 1955. The Center hosts various events including concerts, film screenings, conferences, art performances, literature performances and music. In the French Cultural Center, there is a hall with a capacity of 180 people and an exhibition area of 60 square meters.
