Ahmed Adnan Saygun Cultural Center (AASSM)

Ahmed Adnan Saygun is one of the distinguished composers of Turkish music history. He composed the first Turkish opera and became the first person to receive the title of state artist. The cultural center that was built by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and named after Ahmed Adnan Saygun was opened on 27 December 2008. The venue, which used to be an old trolleybus garage and maintenance workshop, was transformed into an Culture and Art center with a total area of approxiamately 30 thousand square meters. Technically and acoustically, AASSM is one of the best art centers of Turkey. Its acoustic project was carried out by ARUP Company, the designer of the Royal London Opera House and the Sydney Opera House. Since the day it was opened, AASSM has hosted the weekly concerts of Izmir State Symphony Orchestra, performances of Izmir State Opera and Ballet, IKSEV Izmir European Jazz Festival, which has an important place in Izmir's art life, Festival Izmir and the Izmir International Festival. Concerts and exhibitions that are organized by the center were also performed there.

Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center, which has a total area of 29,500 square meters, includes a large hall for 1,130 people, a small hall for 244 people and five exhibition halls. The arts center can also host open space events.
