Tevfik Paşa Turkish Bath

Our next stop is Tevfik Pasha Bathhouse, which is still active today.

Construction epitaph of the bathhouse, which is located right next to Hasan Hodja Mosque, has not survived. Examples similar to Tevfik Pasha Bathhouse are dated between 15th and 18th centuries. However, judging from architectural features of the Westernization Period and gypsery adornments observed in the bathhouse, it is estimated to be built around late 18th century.

Various changes have been made on the bathhouse plan, featuring dressing room, warm room, and hot room. There's a basement underneath the dressing room. Warm room, which was initially a square space, was split by a wall. Today, that secondary space separated from warm room is a store. Hot room has a square plan, and it is covered with a dome.
