Bergama Cloth - M. Mantar

Bergama cloth (twill weaving) is considered to be the second main weaving technique after cloth foot weaving. In Bergama cloth weaving technique; single, double, triple etc. of weft and warp threads. A woven surface is created that emerges from the connections they make with skips. This technique allows to obtain a more durable fabric compared to other woven fabrics.


The history

In the past, weaving is made on special looms in order to revive the Bergama cloth, which was used especially in outerwear and to preserve the clothes by putting them in it and to be used in different areas. This weaving technique, which was revived by the local Tahtacı Village women, is gaining widespread use.
