Manisa Akhisar Hotel

You are in a spot where kortejo architecture was preserved in authentic conditions to modern day.

Once, the water pump in the yard provided water for the kortejo, where a Jewish family lived in each room. Laundry room, toilets, bathroom, and loo are for common use like in the old days.

Salih Acar himself has been running this hotel for over 30 years, since he inherited it from his grandfather. His grandfather came to Izmir from Cyprus in 1922, following liberation of the city. First he started a fizzy lemonade business, becoming the first fizzy fruit soda producer in Turkey. Later on, he bought this structure, which was used as a kortejo for long years, and named it Manisa Akhisar. Previous owner was a lonely old lady living alone in one of the rooms here. She has lived in her room until she passed away.

Just like the previous owner, some customers of this hotel have been staying here for 10-15 years, and they call this place home. Each one of them shares their rooms with a cat.

Manisa Akhisar Hotel has 56 rooms and a large garden. Hotel has been the scene of various movies, series, and documentaries. As this is an old kortejo, sometimes people living in Israel, who have spent their childhood in this building, come to visit this place and sentimental moments are shared with current dwellers.
