Rahmetullah Efendi House

Rahmetullah Efendi was a name in the War of Independence, who broke the wedding of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Latife Hanım on 29 January 1923 and opposed the order of İzmir Governor İzzet Bey not to resist the Greek invasion.

İzmir Mufti Mehmet Rahmetullah Çelebioğlu was born in İzmir in 1872. He served as a mufti from 1919 until his death on 28 August 1944.

This two-storey house with a bay window, where Rahmetullah Efendi lived, is now abandoned and is waiting to be rescued.
