10 Things to Do in İzmir on a Rainy Day

İzmir is heavenly beautiful in the rain. Here are 10 activities you can do in İzmir on a rainy day.

Visit the Kızlarağası Inn

Kızlarğası Inn, located in Halim Ağa Bazaar in Kemeraltı, is one of the most popular inns in the city with its Ottoman-style architecture. With its 300 years of history and traces of Ottoman architecture, this inn is perfect to take shelter from the rain. There are stores that sell ceramic, wooden, and glass souvenirs, local crafts and fabric products, evil eye beads, silver jewelry, and gemstones. There are cafés in the garden where you can have the most delicious Turkish coffee.

Take a Walk in Kordon

As one of the most famous spots in İzmir, Kordon is even more beautiful when the weather is rainy. Starting from Konak and walking up to Alsancak, don't forget to breathe in the salty air, enjoy the Pasaport, Cumhuriyet Square and Kordonboyu in rainy weather.

Spend Some time on the Cyprus Martyrs

You can spend a good time on Cyprus Martyrs' Street in the rain. There are many shops, cafes, bars, and bookshops where you can take shelter. If you are one of those who do not like to get wet, you can spend a whole day here without understanding how time has passed.

Enjoy the View of the Gulf

The view will not be as clear as the sunny days, but everyone should see the misty and foggy state of the Gulf at least once. You can see firsthand how beautiful İzmir looks in the rain by going to The Historical Elevator, Teleferik (Cable Car), and Seyirtepe.

See a Play or a Movie

When you want to be indoors again, you can take a look at the schedules of the İzmir State Theater, the theaters of many district municipalities, and the private ones. You can also find a movie that you will like in a cinema close to you in every part of the city.

Check the Exhibitions

If you are an art lover, many exhibitions are waiting for you. Among the exhibition halls you can visit are İzmir Painting and Sculpture Museum and Gallery, Historical Gas Plant Cultural Center, Arkas Art Center, MMO Tepekule Congress and Exhibition Center, and Folkart Gallery.

Explore the Museums

İzmir is a paradise for museum enthusiasts! İzmir Archeology Museum hosts findings that have traces from the 8,500-year-long history of İzmir and it is one of the first museums to visit in the city. After your visit, we recommend that you also see İzmir Ethnography Museum, which shares the same garden and hosts examples of many handicrafts of İzmir. The other museums you can visit in the city are İzmir Community Painting and Sculptures Museum Art Gallery, Ümran Baradan Game and Toy Museum, İzmir History and Arts Museum, İzmir Atatürk Museum, Music Museum and Sound Library, State Railways - TCDD Museum, İnciraltı Naval Museum and many more.
