There are many historical buildings that deserve to be seen in the center of İzmir.

Angling in Izmir

The most suitable period for angling in Izmir is from October through May. Here are the best destinations where you can fish from the coastline.

In Izmir, which has a coastline of 629 kilometers, the sea is enjoyed not only by swimming and sunbathing but also by fishing. When the summer leaves for autumn, amateur fishermen on the shores of Izmir spend a peaceful time waving their fishing rods into the sea and set their tables up with delicious fish they caught.

If you are interested in angling, you can fish in Izmir between October and May.

Fishermen divide the Izmir Bay into Inner Gulf and Outer Gulf. While between Çiğli and Güzelbahçe is called Inner Bay, Karaburun - Foça is called Outer Bay. The main reason for making this distinction is that there are serious differences between these two regions in terms of the intensity of the wind. While the sea is calmer in the Inner Bay area, which does not receive much wind, there is a more wavy sea in the Outer Bay.

If you are considering angling in Izmir, the most popular destinations you can try are Aliağa, Dikili, Karaburun, Kordon, Foça, Çandarlı, Çeşme, Ahmetbeyli, Güzelbahçe, Özdere, Gerence & Zeytineli, Mordoğan, Gümüldür, Seferihiar, Karşıyaka, Urla, Çeşmealtı, and Tuzla.

Equipment selection

It is recommended that the fishline you choose while angling in Izmir should be not visible under the sea. This type of line gives healthier results because they adapt to the natural environment of the sea. The most popular of this type of line is called fluocarbonate line.

The bait you attach to the end of your line is also important. Different baits are used for marine fish and freshwater fish. Naturally, while fishing in the Aegean, you have to use the bait preferred by sea fish. Among these baits are varieties such as live bait, whole dead fish bait, leech bait, slug bait, squid, mussel, and shrimp.

After preparing your fishing rod, fishing line, and baits, you can take your fish basket, water bowl, water, fishing pole, and needle with you and then go to a coastline in Izmir and enjoy fishing for hours.

Good luck!
