The Orange Circle Era Starts in Izmir

To present healthy and reliable tourism in the city after the COVID-19 pandemic, The Orange Circle certification program has started for the restaurants, cafés, bars, and hotels in Turkey's paradise-like holiday destination, Izmir.

Within the scope of the program, the Izmir Tourism Hygiene Board was established with the cooperation of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Izmir Foundation.

The Board, which determines the hygiene standards that must be fulfilled to carry out tourism services in a healthy way, includes members and scientists from different organizations such as Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Izmir Tradesmen and Craftsmen Union of Chambers, Aegean Touristic Enterprises and Lodging Association, Izmir Chamber of Tourist Guides, Turkey Travel Agencies Association, Izmir Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate, Yasar University, Izmir Restaurateur and Pastry Federation, and Bayrakli Municipality.

Businesses that meet these standards are entitled to receive the Orange Circle certificate.

Thanks to the Orange Circle Certificate, restaurants, coffee shops, all other places that sell food products, and hotels that meet the technical and hygienic criteria are awarded. Thus, awareness is created for these businesses to be preferred and other businesses are encouraged to make the necessary adjustments to get the certificate.

What are the Orange Circle criteria?

The Orange Circle certificate is issued in two categories: restaurants and bars category, and accommodation category.

There are 52 criteria in restaurants and bars category including bread being served in packages, closed water bottle, air conditioners being regularly cleaned by authorized companies, and such. Businesses with a minimum of 75 over 100 points in this category are entitled to get the certificate.

In the accommodation facilities category, there are 101 criteria including the presence of protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and disinfectants in the hotel as well as measuring the body temperature of guests at the entrance of the hotel. Businesses in this category with a minimum of 150 over 200 points are awarded the Orange Circle certificate.
