Stone Crafting - D. Köroğlu

We come across unique examples of our stonemasonry in the architecture of Seljuk, Principalities and Ottoman periods that have survived to the present day. The stones suitable for processing are shaped with simple materials such as ax, set square and chisel after the rough parts are carved. Although more advanced materials are used today, which replace these tools, the basic techniques of stonework have not changed much.


The history

As the use of stonework; It is located in many areas such as housing, mosque, fountain, tombstone, water dispenser. Geometric motifs, floral ornaments, stylized animal figures are frequently used in stonemasonry.
