La Signora Synagogue

La Sinyora Synagogue is located in Kemeraltı, near Havra street. Historian Galante thinkgs that this synagogue was founded by Aseo of Osbio, a Jewish woman of Dutch origin who also founded the Lazaretto poor dormitory. The construction was possible thanks to the donations from Dona Gracia Nasi, aunt of the Snake Nasi, who was an important figure in the Ottoman bureaucracy. The synagogue, which burned several times in the 16th and 17th centuries, was rebuilt after the fire in 1841.
