İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has become a member of the Iter Vitis Routes Network, one of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. The Iter Vitis Network, which preserves the heritage of viticulture, will mark the beginning of a new era for İzmir. This membership will not only strengthen Izmir’s position as a sustainable tourism destination but also open new doors for sharing the stories of its land, vineyards, and people.
With a history deeply rooted in the culture of the vine, İzmir’s membership in the Iter Vitis Routes Network, recognized as one of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, will be the start of a new chapter. Under the coordination of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Tourism Department, work has begun to establish the “İzmir Vineyard Route.” This route will connect vineyards, cultural heritage sites, gastronomic experiences, and rural communities, offering visitors a holistic journey through the region’s rich landscape and traditions.
